How do you start over when you’ve been left with nothing? How can a single mother be expected to source & rebuild an entire household when she is homeless?
Worthy Australia’s Safe Haven Program delivers rapid, practical, and trauma-informed housing support to women and children escaping domestic and family violence. When families exit crisis accommodation, they are often placed into unfurnished, empty homes—no beds, fridge, or linen. Our program fills this gap by transforming these shells into fully furnished, welcoming homes within 7 days of referral.
In Australia, one woman is killed by a partner every seven days. Domestic violence is the leading cause of homelessness and illness among women and children. The most critical and often overlooked stage is post-refuge transition—where women leave safety but face isolation and poverty in empty transitional housing.
Worthy Australia was founded to address this gap. Through deep consultation with survivors, refuge caseworkers, and DV sector leaders, we learned that families are left without beds, fridges, or basic dignity. This often leads to emotional regression, unsafe environments, and even returns to crisis accommodation.
Our Safe Haven model is unique: it doesn’t just offer goods—it restores safety, dignity, and hope. It is survivor-informed, rapid-response, and community-driven, ensuring no woman feels forgotten after escaping violence.
